A dental floss is an important tool in maintaining good oral hygiene. By removing plaque and food particles from between your teeth, dental floss helps prevent tooth decay and gum disease. Here are a few tips on how to properly use dental floss:

Take about 18 inches of dental floss and wind it around your middle fingers, leaving about 2 inches of floss between your hands.

Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and index fingers, and use a gentle sawing motion to work the floss between your teeth.

Once the floss reaches the gum line, gently curve it against one tooth, using an up-and-down motion to clean the side of the tooth. Repeat this process for each tooth.

Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth.

When you’re finished flossing, use mouthwash or water to rinse away any remaining plaque or food particles.

It is recommended to floss at least once a day, ideally before going to bed. People who have braces or other dental appliances should consult with their dentist or orthodontist to determine the best flossing technique for their needs.

Flossing daily not only removes plaque but also helps to prevent bad breath and tooth decay. It is also worth noting that flossing helps to stimulate blood flow which improves the overall health of gums.

It’s also important to note that when flossing if you notice any bleeding, pain, or difficulty in flossing do consult with a dentist as it may be an indication of gum disease or some other dental problem.

By following these simple tips and making flossing a part of your daily routine, you can help ensure that your teeth and gums stay healthy for years to come.
